My leather shoes and sandals get STANKY, especially during the summer. Is there anything i can do?

I have tried washing them often with soap and water, but that doesn%26#039;t help. I have also tried baby powder and putting deodorant on the soles of my feet. Nothing seems to work. Any suggestions?

My leather shoes and sandals get STANKY, especially during the summer. Is there anything i can do?
There are several things to keep in mind.

First, is the smell coming from your feet or the shoes? If its the feet- try using antibacterial soap when you wash them. Most body washes that are moisturizing are not antibacterial. Make sure that you get between the toes and around the toenails as this is where the odor causing bacteria lives. When you get out of the shower, make sure you dry your feet entirely- also paying special attention to the toes and toenails. For added precaution you can wipe down your feet with vinegar which helps to kill any bacteria the soap didn%26#039;t get, and apply baby powder to stop foot sweat.

For the shoes: wiping them with vinegar will help too. Also when purchasing shoes and sandals, look for the ones whose soles are fabric. If your bare foot is sitting on a leather sole, it is more likely to absorb the sweat and smell from your foot. If the sole is fabric- cotton or the like, then you can usually clean it. Most shoe repair stores can assist in cleaning shoes that get %26quot;stanky%26quot; but check prices first. Personally, as I have the same problem in the summer, I try to buy fabric shoes that I can wash. Throw them in the washer with oxy-clean and some vinegar as well as the usual detergent. Set them in the sun to dry. but don%26#039;t do this with leather- it ruins them!!!
Reply:Try soaking your feet in cold tea for a half hour every day. Read more here:

Reply:Buy some more shoes and change them every 2 days, so they can dry again, that helps a lot.

Reply:wash your feet!

also the word stanky is so gross.

learn to spell.
Reply:freeze them in the freezer. and use antibacterial soap on your feet like Safegard or dial.
Reply:toss them in the dishwasher and leave them outside to dry - dont wear the same pair two days in a row, and keep your feet super clean.
Reply:I suggest you see your doctor, he can help you with this. My sister had very bad body Oder, no matter how many times she took a shower. As soon as she sweat, she staaaaank. There are foot order powders specially for this purpose. certain deodorants clash with your sweat, and make things even worse. so go see a doc kid.
Reply:Take an old pair of pantihose and fill the feet with a 50/50 mix of Baking soda and baby powder.

Tie them at the ankle and store the shoes with them in the shoes.

That should take care of it. It works with me.
Reply:febreeze them!!
Reply:um....it depends on where u r wearing ur sandles..... try not bringing them to the beach or anywhere they might get wet. if they do end up getting wet dry them off as soon as possible...i would seggest getting another pair of sandles to wear to places where they%26#039;ll get dirty. try getting a pair that aren%26#039;t made of fabric or leather, and are ment for getting wet.
Reply:Wash your feet more than once every 3 months.
Reply:when you wash your feet after you get out of the tube rub your feet down with dove deoderant (fresh
